It is known primarily as a summer charter bus tourist vacation destination, notably for celebrities, businessmen and political figures.

The island has a permanent population of of around 15,000 residents. However, this figure swells to well over 100,000 during the peak summer months. Martha’s Vineyard is accessible only by boat and air, and is the third largest island on the East Coast of the United States. There are six main towns on Martha’s Vineyard. Tisbury, which includes the village of Vineyard Haven, is the main port of entry for charter bus group visitors. The largest of the towns is Edgartown, known for it’s whaling tradition. The Vineyard is also known for its film festivals, the African-American Film Festival and the Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival.
